repelling ghosts

kick those yesterdays to the curb

we are not monkeys

we’re starlovers

conscious minds burning brightly

in a universe of

infinite chaos

so why not

go against the grain of

expectation

the dulling horror

of what life has been reduced to

and stand up like a nail

fighting for

freedom

expression

and love

because everything else

is just useless
