We sing as the ceiling caves in, and as my fingers slide across the flesh of her lower back, we lose ourselves in the ebb and flow of time. From a drunken kiss at the bottom of the stairs, to blown over tables and chairs as the storm arrives by secret. There are so many doors that will never be opened, and so many curious glances never to be returned. Existence is a night set alight by flowing alcohol and unbridled lust. It’s a drunken chase down the hallway as so many people I don’t know cheer me on. Raising their glasses, they howl as my hands come within inches of making her mine. They scream with joy as if there was no other moment than this- as if somehow our entire lives boiled down to a scene lasting mere seconds. As her hair trails behind her, she turns her head, and the look in her eyes speaks to me of heartbreak, and yet behind it, there’s a thirst for all that can be undone. Her body is a vessel for something I’ve never quite understood. It’s what I’ve been searching for my entire life. Tonight is the dance of strangeness- it’s a painting of sunflowers and a bullet to the guts of all those who never quite believed. Stumbling outside, raindrops explode on our faces as I hurl an empty champagne bottle into the raging clouds. It disappears forever, and as if on cue, lightning strikes a tree at the foot of the garden. Sparks hanging above our heads, we race to the coming of death and raise our arms in the hope of feeling what it’s like to pass between realms. The echoes of the universe thundering in our ears, we embrace before falling to the ground. In this instant, we know there’s nothing else. Touching my face as I hold her close, we know there’s nothing more than this.

  3. Wow! A passionate and sensual piece, that just carries you at it’s own mad pace. To me, it really speaks to the intersection of love and passion and lust, and how they call feed and crash against each other. Great work!

    1. Thank you 🙂 I’m glad it made you feel that way. I wanted it to have that ‘starry night’ essence- where so many emotions are dancing together in a timeless bubble.
