As she flew into the source of the light, X saw the ghost of her younger self waiting upon the threshold, and although it made her feel sad that she was no longer that girl, the thought of what was to come was too beautiful of a thing to resist. The years had got behind her, and she’d been lost more than she’d been found, but inside she was still that girl; a girl in love with the world. Following the orbs that zipped along, she glided into the heart of a strange delight, and as that childhood version skipped and sang, so the music roared. It’s hard to say what happened next, but as the laws of nature warped, the younger X flickered in and out of existence as if in a dream. You could still hear her song, however. Floating through the woods, it beckoned others to come closer, and as the two foxes sat on their hind legs listening with their heads cocked to one side, they didn’t hesitate a second longer, and in the blink of an eye they raced ahead to meet the voice that would lead them to the other side.
