X and I

Thought I’d give an update.

In April of last year, I wrapped up working on the third and final volume of A Journal for Damned Lovers. Working on the original pieces, I should say, as I then spent several months editing these pieces before publishing them on Amazon. It was a proud moment for me, and also the end of an era, as I knew my next project would be something not previously attempted- not to completion- anyhow.

A work of fiction- now known as “X and I”.

“X and I” is essentially the tale of two lovers finding each other for the second time. It’s a strange tale, sometimes surreal, other times firmly planted in the here and now, but it’s also a tender tale of two people discovering that the love they once shared is still burning after several years apart.

The character of “I” is written in the first person and focuses on the male of the relationship. It’s pretty much me, or at least a version of me that’s similar to the one writing this. “X” is the female, and has been something of a revelation. Written in the third person, she’s quickly taken on a life of her own and is not only someone I enjoy writing about, but someone that people seem to enjoy reading- with a passion in some cases. Every time I further her footsteps, it feels as though she’s the breakout star- and as such the central character of the story.

Not only do I feel as though I’ve developed while working on this book, but that I can deliver the reader a tale that will pull them in and keep them there. The responses I’ve had from the instalments I’ve shared so far have been more than encouraging. As mentioned, the Character of “X” in particular has been met with a great deal of enthusiasm.

If you’ve been keeping up with their tale, I thank you and hope you continue to do so. If you haven’t, then hopefully at the end of the year you’ll pick up a copy of the finished product and jump right in.

  1. Yes! I absolutely adore their story. I love both sides equally but I think as a woman, I view it more from her side… though in honesty I’m probably actually more like I and less like X in life. But seeing her perspective is intriguing because it’s not who I am. Very very good writing. Outstanding, actually. I quite simply adore your writing and look forward to my daily dose, as it were. You’re awesome and you keep at it. We’re all so grateful.

    • Thank you ever so much. That means a lot knowing you look forward to your ‘daily dose’ 😉

And I like how you see more of yourself in him than in her. Sometimes I feel as though I neglect him somewhat, as X can be so tempting to explore, but I look forward to working on his next pieces. He’s gone well and truly down the rabbit hole now x
