Starless

cross

my soul

is a thousand years old

landfill, buried

junk

i’m the loneliest man

in a city that never

dreams

isolated, like the moon

older, colder

than i dare admit

born from an ancient collision

a secret, lost in time

haunted by

the

ghosts

of all those that have

gone before

my blood bubbles with

sadness

it thickens, burns

with the memories

of a beautiful love

love

i’ve got all the love in the world

just begging

to be kissed

by a girl

so fine

buried beneath my skin

in a prison

a

cage of flesh

is the heart of a blackbird

with wings ready to soar

high into

the

endless, starless

sky
