Banality And Blowjobs

the world burns

and all we want is to get drunk

and fuck

bodies falling like april showers

bloodshed and

bombs

in every corner of this pitiful land

obliterating

innocence

like it were meaningless

yet apathy is where we belong

celebrity so cool

our souls traded for

banality and blowjobs

war

as some kind of birthright

humanity a stain

when it should only be a glorious

wonder

worshipped and adored

with complete

and utter devotion

  1. F’ing awesome…

    1. Thank you, I’m glad you enjoyed it.

      1. It was a good read, yeah. I liked its blunt edge 🙂

Great poem! I could really feel the emotion and passion.

    1. Thank you, that’s very kind of you to say so!

  3. Brilliant. I absolutely love the last lines, starting from “humanity a stain”. The tone and rhythm is great, quick and angry/frustrated. And the profound philosophical undertones carry well the base truths or emotions… This is exactly how I feel about humanity sometimes.

    1. That’s incredibly kind of you. I’m very excited that it made you feel that way. It’s always a treat when someone really enjoys something you’ve written, even if it is quite dark and tinged with despair. Sometimes, the words just write themselves when the subject matter is so tense.

      1. You’re welcome. Yeah, I know exactly what you mean… despair is my muse too.

      2. When I try writing about happiness, the words never come. Sadness just has too much it to be ignored.

      3. Exactly, and it’s kind of cathartic.
